There are some lovely cities in the surrounding area of our fantastic castle estate. Among them, Leuven, a vibrant city that will easily keep you entertained for a few hours. Definite must-visits include museum M Leuven, Dijlepark, and city hall. A real hidden gem is Keizersberg abbey, a 19th century Benedictine abbey which is still home to a few monks today, as well as to lots of students. The garden is a public park and the estate is situated on a hill, so you can enjoy some wonderful city views from here.
Of course, Brussels is also well worth a visit! With such classic tourist attractions as Jubelpark/Parc du Cinquantenaire, the Royal Palace and Sint-Gorikshallen/Halles Saint-Géry. Enjoy a bite to eat and a drink on the roof terrace of the mim, the musical instruments museum. Stroll around the Ancienne Belgique music venue and discover the stunning street art. You have probably heard of Manneken Pis, but did you know there is also a Jeanneke and Zinneke Pis, a peeing girl and dog? Bad weather? Take in a film at Cinema Nova, a small but world-famous cinema. Hungry? Beenhouwersstraat/Rue des Bouchers with its many cosy little restaurants has a real holiday atmosphere. You are bound to find an eatery you like here!
Nature enthusiast? You will love the Floordambos walk! This is not just a woodland walk, it also takes you along some stunning historic buildings in the area of Thermae Boetfort. It’s a 6km-long walk you can download as a PDF file from the website of Toerisme Vlaams-Brabant.
The Melsbroek air base is situated close to our castle. It has an extensive information centre that is open to the public. We advise you to contact them in advance to plan your visit so you can enjoy it to the full!
