According to American research, the average user reaches for their phone more than 100 times a day and taps their screen nearly 3,000 times a day. Most of us are rarely without our phones for more than two hours. If you feel like you've been mindlessly scrolling, we have some tips to help you break the habit!

Phone addiction can lead to sleep deprivation, making you more susceptible to stress. Plus, being constantly distracted reduces your focus at work and causes you to miss out on enjoyable moments with your family at home.

Tips

Turn off notifications to avoid constant pings from incoming e-mails and messages. Mute less important WhatsApp group chats. Take some time to organise your apps and delete unnecessary ones for a cleaner digital space. To help your mind be more focussed, set specific times to check your e-mail or to scroll through social media.

In addition, check your phone settings to set screen time limits and start tracking your usage. How much time could you save by cutting down on mindless scrolling? You’d be surprised! While you’re at it, make a list of real-life things you love to do – such as playing board games, walking, or meditating – and spend the extra time you've gained doing those.

Screen-Free Week

To highlight the significance of screen-free time, Thermae Boetfort is organising a special Screen-Free Week from 6 to 10 May. While we have a strict no-screen policy year-round at our thermal baths, this week will stress how important it is to take a break from screens.
