Let’s start by explaining why you get dry hands in the first place: washing your hands a lot, often with scented soap, affects your skin barrier. The result? Dry, cracked skin, itching, redness etc.

The most important thing is to choose the right soap. A pH-neutral, unscented soap is your best bet. By the way, did you know that it’s better to use lukewarm water instead of hot water? Next, pat your hands dry with a paper towel or, at home, with a soft, clean towel. Forget about those fancy hand dryers, the dry air these things blast out doesn’t do your already sensitive skin any favours.

And to finish off, it’s all about proper moisturising. Choose a gentle hand cream with nourishing and protective ingredients. Extra tip: apply a generous layer of hand cream right before going to bed, because at night, several processes take place in your body that repair your skin.
