Your skin may be a bit sensitive or feel warm after the treatment. That’s because the upper layer of your skin has been subjected to quite intensive treatment. But a microdermabrasion treatment shouldn’t hurt. If it does, do tell your beauty therapist during the treatment, so she can assess why this may be.

What are some of the normal after-effects of the treatment you may experience?

Your skin may be a bit pink or red. It could also be a little swollen. These are two things you definitely shouldn’t be worried about because redness or swelling is most likely due to the fact that microdermabrasion increases blood flow.

You may have some flaking or peeling a few days after the treatment. Again, this is nothing to worry about. This happens because the cell renewal process has been stimulated, i.e. your skin is busy producing new skin cells. So, don’t start scrubbing your skin more or harder; instead, give it some extra hydration by applying a serum or a hydrating mask, for instance.
