Regular sauna visits can help reduce the likelihood of getting sick. In particular, alternating between the warmth of saunas and cooler temperatures boosts your resistance to typical winter ailments. It’s like training your body to handle temperature fluctuations more effectively. The heat of the sauna also stimulates blood circulation, and, of course, a day at the sauna is incredibly relaxing - even for children!
A few house rules for a relaxing sauna day with children
- Everyone comes here for peace and quiet, so silence must be respected always and everywhere in our public baths. Children are therefore not allowed to make noise, run around, jump or play with toys in the pool, etc.
- As a parent, you should accompany your children everywhere. This means they are not allowed to enter our saunas, the swimming pools, etc. on their own. You cannot go into the sauna alone while your child remains in the pool.
- Like everyone else, children in the sauna should always sit with their entire bodies on a towel.
Some more tips for children going to the sauna (for the first time):
- Don't dive straight into the hottest saunas. Go for saunas with lower temperatures.
- Children find it difficult to recognise when their body temperature has risen enough, so keep an eye on them and let them know when it’s time to leave the sauna. Don't spend too long in the sauna with children; about five minutes is often enough.
- Cooling down is always important, even for them! But don't do it too drastically, build up slowly. For example, go outside first, walk around and take a few deep breaths in and out. Then, opt for a lukewarm or cold shower. Tip: use the water hose and cool their arms and legs first, and only then let them go under the water with their whole body.
- Take enough rest between sauna sessions and don't forget to hydrate properly by drinking plenty of water.
