The heat causes a rise in body temperature (an artificial fever, if you like) which triggers your body to produce more white blood cells and antibodies, boosting your immunity in the process. And, sweating helps cleanse your skin. But having saunas also has positive effects on your mental health. The sauna is a low-stimulus environment, making it easy to relax. What’s more, the heat stimulates your body to produce endorphins, hormones that increase your stress resilience, create a feeling of wellbeing and promote a better night’s sleep.

The increase in temperature stimulates your body to sweat and an insulating layer is created around your body to protect you from the heat.
