Valentine’s Day is relatively popular in Belgium, with roughly half of Flemish people celebrating in some way or another on 14 February. From a bouquet of flowers to a romantic getaway, the possibilities are endless. There's even something called Mistress Day on 13 February, which is when cheating spouses celebrate their secret lovers.

In Germany, 14 February is considered to be unlucky as it was the day Judas, the betrayer of Jesus, was born.

In the United States, Valentine’s Day is extremely popular, with an estimated $20 billion spent each year on Valentine’s gifts ranging from flowers to perfume, as well as the ubiquitous candy hearts with messages like ‘I love You’ and ‘Be Mine’ stamped on them.

In Peru, Valentine’s Day is a national holiday, with most people getting a day off from work. Florists do particularly well that day, with orchids being as popular in Peru as roses are in Europe. Mass weddings tend to be held on Valentine's Day because of how many people want to tie the knot on the official day of love.

Valentine’s Day is celebrated on 12 June in Brazil and 25 February in Wales, where they commemorate Saint Anthony and Princess Dydd Santes Dwynwen, respectively.
