Too much stress is detrimental to our quality of life. And yes, while it’s virtually impossible to banish all stress from our lives, you can do something about the way you manage stress. We give you a few little tips to help you on your way.
1. Try to do something every day that energises you: cycling, swimming, tidying up a messy room, singing along to the radio at the top of your voice or having a boogie to your favourite song. Try a few different things until you find what works best for you.
2. Try to remove energy-sapping things: is there a task at work you are really not looking forward to? Maybe one of your colleagues would be happy to take it on? As for household chores, have a think about which ones you could delegate.
3. Try to schedule something that calms you every day: reading a book, having a long soak in the bath, an evening at the sauna (LINK) or some gardening.
4. Are you a real worrywart? Try scheduling a set time to worry. Fifteen minutes a day during which you give yourself free rein to worry, but which you end on a positive note. If you find yourself starting to worry outside this set time, write down your thought on a list. That way, you can let it go until you can think about it freely later. And, who knows, the problem may have already resolved itself by then.
