When you take a sauna your muscles relax due to the heat and so, too, do the muscle fibres in the bronchi. It is these fibres that cause an asthma attack. So in principle there is little if any risk of an attack in the sauna. What is more, scientific research has shown that people who go to the sauna regularly suffer fewer attacks and are able to breathe more easily. Your physical resistance improves, too, so you run less risk of falling ill.
