Halotherapy has a cleansing effect that may help alleviate breathing problems caused by chronic colds, asthma, hay fever and other allergies. In a salt room, all surfaces are covered in salt and on top of this, medicinal salt is dispersed in the room. This replicates the kind of climate you find in a salt cave.

Salt has antibacterial properties and so, cleanses your lungs. Also, it reduces inflammation and phlegm, making the latter easier to cough up. The medicinal salt particles that are dispersed in the room are so tiny that they are inhaled into the deepest parts of your lungs.

This improves lung function, which also makes this a perfect therapy for exercisers and athletes who want to boost their performance.

Halotherapy is also believed to have other health benefits. For instance, it may have a positive effect on certain skin conditions like acne, psoriasis and eczema. And, it reduces stress!

At Thermae Boetfort, we organise two halotherapy sessions a day. Our wellness resort guests can take part in these sessions free of charge. But you do need to sign up at the centre because spaces are limited. Also, please turn up five minutes before your session starts, wearing a bathrobe.

Do you have any serious health conditions? Make sure to consult your GP first before taking part.
